Canon recently announced the launching of a new compact camera under the SX line that packs a punch. Offering several new features for this SX line of Canon cameras, this sleek, compact designed camera offers the shooter several advantages:
The PowerShot SX600 HS comes with an 18x optical zoom or equivalent to a 25-450mm lens. This gives you unparalleled advantage as you take wide angled shots such as group portraits and close-ups of distant subjects such as kids playing, parades, stage performances, concerts or even wildlife. Its zoom capability allows you to focus on subjects without being too intrusive. If you’re not content with the 450mm zoom, the SX600 has a 36x Zoom Plus technology which is actually a digital zoom. This feature allows you to zoom in to 900mm –an amazing range for a small, lightweight and compact camera.
Creative Shot Mode
This mode offers artistic options to the user. With the Creative Shot Mode, the camera allows you to choose a filter category before a shot is made and creates various renditions of the subject taken. There are four filter categories or themes available with a total of 46 filters to choose from. The filter categories are: Monochrome, Retro, Special and Natural. Once the image has been taken, the camera will automatically render five different variations based on composition, lighting and color. The original image will still be retained. This feature is similar to the widely popular Instagram.
Hybrid Auto Mode
This feature allows the camera to record a four-second video every time you take an image. The clip taken is then automatically joined with the image you took and creates a highlight reel at 720p HD video. This creates a memorable recording of your vacation or an important event in your life.
Canon HS System
Since the aperture of the SX600 is a bit high at f/3.8-6.9, this will be a disadvantage in dimly lit environments. To compensate for this drawback, Canon created the HS System, which allows you to capture details in low light situations. It works in conjunction with the camera’s 16MP CMOS sensor and Digic 4+ Image Processor.
Mobile Device Connect
The SX600’S built-in Wi-Fi and NFC (Near Field Communication) systems allow the camera to communicate with Android devices, making it easy to share your images in social networking sites or with any compatible smart phone, computer or tablet. And with the free Canon Camera Window app, you can also control your camera remotely using a smart phone.
This is an ideal camera for those wanting to travel light. It offers a range of features that will surely delight the everyday user. The SX600 will be available by February 2014 in red, white or black colors.
