Heart of the Samsung NX30:
The NX30 uses a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor coupled with the DRIMe IV image processor. It has an improved design that allows a more efficient and direct path for the light to hit the sensor. This is complemented by an improved algorithm to produce better images. The overall noise level has also been decreased, improving the sensitivity to ISO 25600.
The NX30’s AF System uses a hybrid system of contrast detection and on-chip phase detection. This uses 105 phase-detection autofocus points and 247 area contrast-detection AF points, which allow for faster and more accurate focusing of the subject.
In terms of performance, the NX30 has been rated at 9 fps at continuous shooting.
Electronic Viewfinder and Screen
The NX30 comes with a new extendable and tilting electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 2.36 million dots. This is a very handy feature to aid in low-angle shooting of both stills and videos — for example, shooting macros when the articulating monitor is unusable because of a bright overhead light.
With regard to its display, the 3-inch size and fully articulating feature has been retained. Improvement has been made as it is now Super AMOLED with a resolution of 1073k-dots. Samsung claims an improvement of 30% in brightness as compared to its predecessor, the NX20.
Smart Camera 3.0
Being the pioneer in internet connectivity and image sharing for its line of cameras, Samsung has integrated the third generation of this feature to its NX30. Through its AutoShare, images are immediately sent to a smartphone or tablet. And with its Photo Beam, you can send photos to four devices simultaneously.
Other features are Dropbox and Flickr integration, as well as a new Remote Viewfinder Pro app that enables you to control the NX30 remotely using your smartphone or tablet. This app also acts as a viewfinder to frame your shots and change exposure settings. Or it can serve as a baby monitor or a surveillance camera thru its live stream capabilities.
As a final bonus, Samsung is bundling in the Adobe Lightroom 5 instead of the Samsung Raw Converter 4.0 software with the NX30 — a magnificent post-production solution to complement your shooting.
